Rear Admiral inspects site proposed for naval base

The Chief of Staff–designate for the Eastern Naval Command Rear Admiral Sunil Lanba landed here at the Naval detachment premises housed in the Nagapattinam Port complex on Tuesday. The trip, a purported familiarisation exercise, also involved a visit to a potential site proposed for a future Naval base here in the district.

In a brief interaction with The Hindu , Rear Admiral Lanba stated that he was here on a ‘familiarisation tour' prior to his taking charge as the COS-Eastern Naval Command shortly. The COS-designate arrived here on a Naval chopper and interacted with the detachment officers, and other coastal security officials. Claud Lobo, Detachment Commander, Nagapattinam; A.K.Sharma, Detachment Commander, Thopputhurai were among the Naval officials present.
