Railway Board gives cash award to Tiruchi Division

The Railway Board has sanctioned a cash award of Rs. 50,000 to the Electrical Department of Tiruchi Division for having achieved energy efficiency.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Union Ministry of Power, had accorded five star rating to the Divisional Railway Manager's (DRM) office building here for lesser consumption of energy leading to reduction in expenditure on account of lower energy bill.

The DRM office building was given five star rating as the Energy Performance Index (EPI) was 44 Kwh/sq.m./year. The five star status will be valid for a period of five years.

A release here said being the first railway office in Indian Railways to have received the ‘five star status', the Railway Board has sanctioned a group cash award of Rs. 50,000 to the Electrical Department of Tiruchi Division. The general manager, Southern Railway has sanctioned Rs. 40,000 to the Department for the achievement. .
