Issue of application forms gets underway

The new Kendriya Vidyalaya at the railway colony in Golden Rock here is all set to start functioning from July 1.

This will be the third Kendriya Vidyalaya to come up in Tiruchi city – with two of them functioning at Ordnance Factory Estate and at HAPP Township on the city’s outskirts.

The new Kendriya Vidyalaya at Golden Rock will be a primary school with classes 1 to 5. The students’ intake for this academic year would be 200. It will temporarily function from the Railway Mixed School building situated within the railway colony after the railways provided the premises.

Ahead of the start of the school, the exercise of issue of application forms for admission of students into the new Kendriya Vidyalaya commenced on Wednesday morning. A huge rush was witnessed at the new KV school in the morning with parents making a beeline to buy application forms for their wards.

After distribution of some forms, tokens were issued to public assembled at the school. The Principal of KV- II N. Alagendhi holding additional charge of the new Golden Rock School said the new Kendriya Vidyalaya School would start functioning from July 1. Admissions would be based on Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan guidelines, he said and added that the application forms would be issued till June 20. Six acres of railway land nearby had been identified where a new building would be built by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, he added.

Meanwhile, A. Devarajan, adviser-cum-spokesperson of the KV Parents Association, Tiruchi, said the new school would be a boon especially for the weaker sections of society in Tiruchi as the institution would provide quality education at minimal fees.

The association had been seeking a third KV at Tiruchi for nearly 20 years now, Mr. Devarajan said.
