Sadiq Basha, a close aide of former Telecom Minister and an accused in the 2G scam A. Raja, was actually murdered, said 24-year-old K. Prabhakaran, a resident of Udayarpalayam taluk in Ariyalur district, on Tuesday.

While admitting his “complicity” in the case, Prabhakaran alleged that a senior police officer of the State and a relative of a prominent politician were involved in the crime. He further alleged that the murder took place in Sadiq Basha’s office.

No evidence

However, Prabhakaran had no evidence to support his allegation which he made to reporters at the Press Club here.

Asked why it took him such a long time to disclose this, Prabhakaran said he feared for his life and that he wanted to undergo punishment for the “crime.”

Petition sent

He further claimed that he had sent a petition to the Chief Minister’s cell stating that he was ready for any probe connected with the case. He also claimed that he was an assistant to an ex-naxal leader who went on to float an outfit and through that he came to know the relative of the politician.

Basha was found hanging in his house at Teynampet in Chennai by his wife and driver in March 2011.
