Land acquisition to be completed soon: Raja

For the proposed 3,702-acre SEZ in Perambalur

Acquisition of land for the proposed 3,702-acre special economic zone (SEZ) in Perambalur district would be completed soon and 2,937 acres had been acquired and handed over to the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), said A.Raja, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, here recently.

Talking to reporters after inspecting the construction of concrete houses under the Kalaignar Housing Scheme in Pudunaduvalur village, the Minister said 150 acres of government land had been acquired last week for the SEZ and this would be handed over to the TIDCO shortly.

Mr Raja said a meeting would soon be conducted here to discuss the preliminary works and the allocation of land for various industries and other units. The meeting will be attended by the promoters of SEZ, officials from the TIDCO, Collector, public representatives and other special invitees, he said. He said that in all 5,189 houses (3,457 under Kalaignar Housing Scheme and 1,732 under Indira Awaz Yojana scheme) would be built during the current year in Perambalur district for which the Government was providing a subsidy of Rs.75,000 per house. S.Palanisamy, Collector in-charge, M.Rajkumar, MLA, Balusamy, RDO, Periasamy, panchayat union chairman and other officials accompanied the Minister .
