IIM students told

“If you learn to enjoy what you’re doing, nothing can stop you from achieving your goals,” said S. Gopinath, Executive Director, BHEL, Tiruchi, speaking at the inauguration of the fifth batch of Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) and the sixth batch of Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) of Indian Institute of Management-Tiruchi.

Mr. Gopinath urged students to develop the “urge for creativity” and that this was the right time to hone their skill.

Suhas Misra, Co-founder and former COO, Hector Beverages India Pvt. Ltd., said management was all about creating value. There is considerable wealth and value to be created as an entrepreneur, he said and emphasized the need for fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship.

Prafulla Agnihotri, Director, Indian Institute of Management-Tiruchi, said the new campus of the institute would have Harvard-style classrooms and laboratories.

Students of the 2015-2017 batch (PGP) were felicitated for their academic achievements. Merit awards were presented to those who stood first in each of the three terms. The top five students of the batch at the end of the first year were placed in the Director’s Merit List and presented with merit certificate and book grants.

Imayam College

launches 3D lessons

The Imayam College of Engineering near Thuraiyur in the district has introduced a visual rich digital content product for all its engineering students for quicker understanding of the prescribed syllabus. The “Learn Engg” solution in Lenovo tablet contains detailed notes and images conforming to the prescribed syllabus of Anna University and embedded with relevant animations of real-life applications and industry practices. The innovative educational product has been developed by Infoplus Technologies Private Limited, a Chennai-based company.

The product presents the concepts from each and every lesson using real-world applications in a three-dimensional format.

Speaking at the launch, S.M. Nabi, Director, Infoplus Technologies, said the company had teamed up with Imayam College to introduce the educational product. LearnEngg was a customised product which would help students in quicker and better understanding of the syllabus in visual form, he said. The college chairman P. Periyanan was present.

‘Take pride in

what you do’

Management graduates must imbue a competitive spirit and be unique in their approach to challenges to remain in the forefront, non-executive Chairman, Shoppers' Stop Limited, B.S. Nagesh, told new graduates at the graduation day of the Gnanam School of Business at Sengipatti.

Detailing the skills of a management specialist, Mr. Nagesh said learning, unlearning, and relearning had to become a lifelong pursuit. Succeeding at work place required the passion to do a good job of whatever he did, taking pride in his or her work with commitment and a customer-centric act, respect for deadlines, and a discipline to follow things through to the closure were essential attributes of a good management professional, Mr. Nagesh said.

Former students Eugine Babu and Jegan were conferred with the Raja Raja Cholan Award instituted by the GSB for their meritorious contribution while the Rev. Casimir Raj Award for excellence in Management Education went to K. Suganya and M.V. Sreejith. Gnanam School of Business chairman S.P. Selvaraj welcomed the gathering Chief Executive Officer S.P.S.Arul Doss proposed a vote of thanks.
