Book exhibition, enrolment of patrons marked the 43rd national library week celebrations organised by the branch library, Kolakkudi near here on Sunday.
K. Janakarajan, former president of the Kolakkudi panchayat, presided and T. Manikkam, former panchayat union councillor, declared open the book fair.
A large number of books on various titles have been displayed in the book fair.
Students of the schools situated in Kolakkudi village and the surrounding areas visited the fair.
Sivapackiam Pattan of Kolakkudi enrolled herself as the 24th patron of the branch library on the occasion by paying Rs.1,000.
Selvakumar, branch librarian, underlined the importance of libraries in enabling the youth for building a bright future.
He also explained the various steps taken for promoting library movement in the village.
Selvi Ravi, vice-president of the Kolakkudi panchayat, N. Pushparaj, president, Readers' Circle of the branch library, A. Abdul Raheem, its vice-president, and others offered felicitations.
