All arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of Vaikunda Ekadasi festival at Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, with the main event of opening of Paramapadavasal early on Sunday morning.

With the festival falling on Sunday, the influx of pilgrims was more than usual. Traffic police personnel were deployed at important junctions on the Tiruchi - Chennai National Highway such as near the Cauvery Bridge and Coleroon Bridge, guiding the devotees particularly those coming from outstations, to Srirangam. Tight security arrangements have been made at the temple.

The crowd of pilgrims started swelling even by late afternoon, with devotees offering worship to Namperumal in ‘Mohini Alankaram’ on Saturday. Devotees from different parts of the country, particularly those from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka had gathered in good strength. Divided into groups, the devotees were seen performing ‘Hari bhajan’ and glorifying Lord Narayana at different places of the temple.
