About 30 persons were injured in a jallikattu held at L. Abishekapuram near Lalgudi in Tiruchi district and at Alathur in Pudukottai district on Saturday.

Twenty-two persons were injured in L. Abishekapuram. Over 700 bulls were let out through the ‘vaadivasal’ and 380 tamers took the arena.

Twenty-one among the injured — 11 bull tamers, five spectators and five bull owners — were treated as outpatients for minor injuries. A seriously injured bull tamer was hospitalised.

In Pudukottai, Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar inaugurated the jallikattu at Alathur.

The event was jointly organised by residents of Alathur, Kurichipatti, Thanjirapatti, Sokkampatti and Seethapatti.
