World Mental Health Day observed

World Mental Health Day was observed here on Saturday at a function led by the Mental Health Action By People (MAP) under the aegis of the Women’s College union and various psychiatry wings of hospitals.

Doordarshan Thiruvananthapuram Kendra director G. Sajan inaugurated the function. Psychiatrist K. Gireesh presided over the function, and psychologist Krishnaprasad Sreedhar delivered the main address.

The theme of this year’s observance ‘Dignity in mental health’ would become a reality only when human rights were protected, Dr. Gireesh said. This assumed utmost importance in the context of the State according to studies, he added.
