The body of a 39-year-old woman patient was found in the water tank of the General Hospital here on Friday. She has been identified as Sindu, from Muttathara. The police said she had been undergoing treatment for an infection in her right leg for nearly two weeks. The body was found around 9.45 a.m. by a hospital employee who sensed something to be amiss on seeing the lid of the tank open. The body was soon taken out by the personnel of the Fire and Rescue Services and the Cantonment police.

Could be suicide

The police said that the patient, who was admitted in Ward No. 11, had been missing since Thursday night, soon after which the police was alerted. Preliminary investigation pointed to the possibility of suicide.

However, a final conclusion could be reached only after further probe, an official said. The post-mortem examination was conducted at the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College. Sindu is survived by her husband and two children.
