Waiters race to bag honours

Over 100 participants representing leading hotel groups vied for top honours at the India International Waiters Race 2015 held at the beach resort of Kovalam on Thursday.

The skills of waiters, the unsung heroes in the hospitality sector, were tested through salver obstacle race, water pouring, table frilling, napkin folding, cocktail making, and food and beverage quiz.

Vivanta by Taj Kovalam emerged the overall winners and Uday Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel and Spa Kovalam became the runners-up. Ghasi Sammeem of Vivanta by Taj was declared man of the event.

The event that saw the participation of 20 hotels was judged by the IHMCT Kovalam, a release here said.
