‘Vote Vandi’ at Mar Ivanios

April 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:16 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The ‘Vote Vandi’, an initiative to create awareness on the Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machine among the voters and to include the names of new voters in the voters list, reached the Mar Ivanios College on Wednesday as part of its tour across the district.

New voters in the college added their names to the voter’s list and acquainted themselves with the machine.

The ‘Vote Vandi’ programme is being organised jointly by the Election Commission, the district administration, and the Information and Public Relations department.

The VVPAT machine will be used in 12 districts in the upcoming Assembly elections.

In Thiruvananthapuram district, the machine will be used in Nemom and Vattiyurkavu constituencies, in booths which have less than 1350 voters. In such booths, one extra official will be appointed on election duty.
