Two die of HINI infection

Fourteen more positive cases were reported in the State on Sunday — nine from Kannur and five from Thrissur.

Two more lives have been claimed by H1N1 infection in the State, taking the toll from the infection this year to seven, including two pregnant women.

Preethi Venu, 42, of Cheeral in Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad district, who had been admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode with acute respiratory distress, died on Saturday.

Surendran, 59, of Pallimoola in Thrissur district, who had been admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur with bronchopneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome and diabetes, had died on July 10. He also tested positive for H1N1 infection.

Fourteen more positive cases were reported in the State on Sunday — nine from Kannur and five from Thrissur.

The total number of cases reported this year was 359. A district-wise breakdown of the cases are as follows: Kozhikode (115), Malappuram (66), Kasaragod (38), Kannur (45), Wayanad (24), Thrissur (40), Kottayam (10), Ernakulam (10), Alappuzha (six), Palakkad (three), Thiruvananthapuram (one) and Kollam (one).
