Translation workshop

A six-day translation workshop that has been organised by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi is under way in the city.

Six Rajasthani writers are participating in the workshop being held at Hotel South Park to translate selected Malayalam short stories into Rajasthani. The programme which commenced on October 2 will conclude on Tuesday.

The group includes Malchand Tiwari, Meethesh Nirmohi, Bulaki Sharma, Madhu Acharya Ashavadi, Dularam Suran and Arjun Deo Charan, who is the convener of the Rajasthani Advisory Board of the Sahitya Akademi.

According to Dr. Charan, the translation of Malayalam short stories to Rajasthani was a hard task and a time-consuming one.

Resource person S. Thankamani said that it involved translating the whole culture into a different sphere of language. — Staff Reporter
