Traffic restrictions in city on Tuesday

The police will impose strict traffic restrictions in the city on Tuesday in view of the conclusion of the Janaraksha Yatra being led by BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan. The traffic arrangements will come into force at 10 a.m. and extend until the conclusion of the valedictory meeting in the evening.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the Pattom – Plammoodu – PMG – RR Lamp – Palayam – VJT – Statue – Pulimoodu – Ayurveda College junction – OBTC – East Fort – Vettimuricha Kotta (MG Road) route until the conclusion of the rally.

Vehicles transporting participants of the rally and coming from the Kazhakuttom direction will be required to proceed for Thampanoor and East Fort and going along the NH-66 bypass. Vehicles coming from the MC Road will have to divert at Mannanthala and proceed along the Mukkola – Peroorkada – Sasthamangalam – Edappazhinji route to head for Thampanoor.

Vehicles proceeding along the Chakka – Pettah – General Hospital junction route will be required to head for Thampanoor via. Asan Square, Underpass and Bakery junction.

Until the concluding rally reaches the Statue junction, vehicles that are headed for Peroorkada and Nedumangad from East Fort will be required to divert at Overbridge junction and proceed along the Thampanoor flyover – Mettukada – Vazhuthacaud – Vellayambalam route, and those intending to pass through Kannammoola, Medical College and Pettah will be required to go along the Ayurveda College – Kaithamukku – Vanchiyoor route.

After the rally passes by the Statue junction, vehicles coming from East Fort should proceed along the Attakulangara – Killipalam or Attakulangara – Mithranandapuram – Enchakkal routes. Vehicles that are headed for the National Highway or MC Road must take the Bakery junction – Underpass – General Hospital – Pettah – Chakka or Kannammoola – Medical College – Ulloor routes.

Following the conclusion of the rally, vehicles carrying the participants and those that are headed for places including Attingal, Kilimanoor, Kovalam, Thiruvallam and Neyyattinkara must collect the passengers from Enchakkal and proceed along the NH bypass or coastal road on either direction. Such vehicles that are supposed to go towards Peroorkada and Nedumangad must proceed along Chakka, Pettah, General Hospital, Asan Square, Underpass, Bakery and Vazhuthacaud. (EOM/SBG)
