Traffic curbs in city today for PM’s visit

Traffic will be regulated from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday on the following route in the city in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit: airport, All Saints, Chakka, Eanchakkal, West Fort, Mitranandapuram, Vazhapally, Transport Bhavan, East Fort and up to Padmavilasom road.

Traffic will also be regulated on the Chakka, Pettah, Pattoor, General Hospital, Asan Square, Martyrs’ Square, RR Lamp, Museum, KELTRON, Vellayambalam and Raj Bhavan route, District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram City) S. Surendran said.

These roads and the roads surrounding the Padmanabhaswamy remple will be off-limits to street vendors. Parking also is banned near the temple on Tuesday.

Vehicles heading towards the city via Kovalam bypass should take the Kamaleswaram, Manacaud route from Thiruvallam bridge. Vehicles moving via the Kazhakuttam bypass should head towards the city either via Kuzhivila junction or Venpalavattam junction. Motorists travelling to Shanghumugham, All Saints and Vettucaud should take the Anayara, Venpalavattam, Veli route from Pettah.

Other restrictions

Residents and traders along the convoy’s route should avoid travel when it passes the area. Vehicles from byroads will not be allowed to enter the main road at the time.

The gates of houses and shops on the route must remain closed while the motorcade passes by.

Construction activities along the route will be suspended for the day.

Airline passengers have been advised to reach the airport early to avoid road blocks.
