T.N. native held with 10 kg of ganja

The Thiruvananthapuram City police have arrested a Tamil Nadu native with 10 kg of ganja, which was allegedly being smuggled for sale at tourist destinations during the year-end festivities.

The accused, Ishakki Muthu, 31, of Tirunelveli, was apprehended by the City shadow police from Kazhakuttam and his arrest was later recorded by the Kazhakuttam police.

He was arrested following a crackdown launched by the City police on wholesale drug dealers.

District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram City) P. Prakash has constituted a special shadow police team for the task.

Ishakki Muthu is also believed to have functioned as an agent of rackets that operated from Madurai and Theni. The police have commenced efforts to identify retail dealers who used to source the contraband from the accused.

Ishakki Muthu was remanded in judicial custody.
