The State capital has been chosen as the venue for the 19th All India Children’s Educational Film Festival scheduled to be held on March 4, 5, and 6 next year.

The festival is being organised by the State Institute of Educational Technology (SIET) and the Central Institute of Educational Technology under the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The festival aims at encouraging the production of educational films, screen films made by children on a national-level, and present a platform for film-makers from across the country and abroad to get together and discuss the possibilities and challenges in the field.

The productions – in English and regional languages – of various agencies specialising in educational programmes and State departments will be screened during the festival. Audio programmes will be presented as well, a press release said.

There is a competition section that will evaluate educational films shortlisted from different States. The educational video competition will be conducted in five age categories – 5-8 age group, 9 to 11, secondary, senior secondary, and teachers’ section. The winning presentations will receive an award and certificate from the Union Ministry. Both individuals and institutions can send their entries for the competition section by January 15.
