Teenager held in rape case complaint


The Vellarada police on Sunday arrested a teenager on charges of raping a 20-year-old differently abled girl. According to the police, the boy, a 16-year-old school dropout, sneaked into the victim’s house when her mother, a daily wage worker, was not at home and raped her. The incident occurred on Saturday. The boy was a relative of the girl, the police said.

The girl, who was aurally challenged, reported the incident to her mother through sign language when she returned. She then lodged a compliant with the police.

The rape was confirmed in a medical examination conducted, following which the police took the boy into custody.

The accused would be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Monday.
