District Collector K. Vasuki recently inaugurated an event to honour the staff of Technopark who helped in flood rescue and relief measures. Truck owners and drivers, who rented 28 vehicles free of cost, and people who provided free food for the volunteers at the collection centres were all honoured.
The collection centre at Technopark Club has been able to source and distribute several loads of relief materials and medicines. An IT help desk was started for connecting people who need help and volunteers. More than 200 employees helped in the help-desk facility.
Software
For the management of stocks and distribution of relief materials, a software was developed and handed over to the Kerala IT Mission. Prathidhwani volunteers also collected and entered the details of five collection centres in the city.
It initially provided medicines to the tune of ₹4 lakh for the doctors’ relief team at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital here.
The forum led cleaning campaigns at Prince Marthandavarma Higher Secondary School, Perangara and Cochin University Engineering College at Puttankulam. Prathidhwani Women’s forum wrote notes for those who lost their notebooks.
‘My School Kit’ is carried out to provide essential equipment and materials to students in affected areas. Schools or volunteers can register the children’s needs on the website, keralaneeds.com. The programme will continue till September 15.
