Stress on importance of cardiac imaging

Experts who met here for the eighth annual conference of the Indian Academy of Echocardiography (IAE) Kerala chapter have underlined the importance of cardiac imaging in augmenting the effectiveness of treatment.

Health sector needs to ensure that health care was universal and that the general public benefitted from the latest technologies, George Thayil, president, IAE Kerala chapter said, inaugurating the annual conference at Kovalam.

Automation and artificial intelligence (AI) had significantly improved precision in imaging and treatments. These technologies supplemented the diagnostic skills and expertise of doctors, he said.

IAE is the largest organisation representing cardiologists engaged in research, training and prescribing standards in cardiac imaging and cardiovascular ultrasound.

Echocardiography had evolved as the most effective non-invasive ultrasound tool for the imaging of the heart, Suresh K., organising chairman, said.

More than 300 experts, including cardiologists, physicians, attended the meet.
