The Space Technology Application Development Ecosystem (STADE), the recently launched project of the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), is expected to have its permanent base ready at the Kinfra Film and Video Park in three months.

Following its launch last week, STADE was being temporarily put up at a 10,000 sq ft space vacated by the International Centre for Open Source Software (ICFOSS) at Technopark, the KSUM officials said.

“The permanent facility for STADE at Kinfra park will have a total area of approximately 8,900 sq ft in three floors. The infrastructure will be ready in another three months,” KSUM CEO Saji Gopinath said.

Data-based solutions

STADE, which focuses chiefly on data-based solutions, is one of two space tech-based projects coming up in Thiruvananthapuram, the other being the Nano Space Park that is expected to be ready at Pallipuram in another six months.

“The Nano Space Park will basically supply to space industries — for example a new electric propulsion or thrusters, or new rocket fuels. STADE, on the other hand, focuses on developing applications from satellite-generated data and allied products,” he said.

The State government had launched STADE by transferring occupancy certificates to three companies — SatSure, Bellatrix Aerospace, and Agnikul.

Airbus partnership

According to the government, Airbus will have an ‘ecosystem partnership’ in STADE.

Talks are also progressing with French space agency CNES and the European Space Agency (ESA) for establishing similar partnerships.

Meanwhile, discussions have been initiated with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) for supplying satellite feeds to companies under STADE.

The arrangements would likely be done by the time STADE would be ready to move to its permanent facility, Mr Gopinath said.

At present, the Kerala State Remote Sensing and Environment Centre (KSREC) is sourcing NRSC feeds, but it is being utilised exclusively for government solutions.
