SFI victorious in KU college union polls

Sweeps 31 out of 34 colleges

The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has registered a resounding victory in the elections to college unions under the University of Kerala that were held on Friday.

The CPI (M)-feeder organisation emerged victorious in 31 out of the 34 colleges in the district to which elections were conducted. These included the University College where the poll process came under intense scrutiny where several nominations that were submitted by the other organisations were initially rejected, but later accepted on the basis of a Kerala High Court direction. The SFI swept the polls to all posts in the University College by polling around 80% of the total votes. Candidates of the Kerala Students Union (KSU) and the All India Students Federation (AISF) were also in the fray. The organisation also came first in the Government College for Women, Government Sanskrit College and Government Arts College.

The KSU secured victories in institutions including the Iqbal College, Peringamala; A.J. College, Thonnakkal; and Sree Sankara College, Nagaroor.
