Seminar on science education tomorrow

Talentspire, an educational initiative started by a group of professionals from the Educational and Information Technology industries with the objective of inspiring talent in science learning, is organising a one-day seminar ‘Science Education in the Digital Era’ at Hotel Mascot here on May 17.

Leading educationalists, technologists and scientists from leading institutions in Kerala are expected to participate in the session. Prof. Achutshankar S. Nair, Head, Department of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, University of Kerala will be the moderator of the discussion. Former ISRO chairmen G.Madhavan Nair and K.Kasturirangan and Scientific advisor to the Chief Minister M. C. Dattan are among those scheduled to participate in the event.

A notable presence will be 16-year-old Samay Godika, an Indian origin U.S. citizen, the winner of this year’s ‘Breakthrough Junior Challenge’ ($400,000 prize money) for his video on circadian rhythms, which are physical, mental and behavioural changes that follow a daily cycle. He, along with his mentor, will be presented the Talentspire Science Achievement Award. The company will also felicitate Prof S. K. Satheesh who won the Infosys Prize for 2018 in Physical Sciences.
