Poet and activist Sugathakumari has called for a new development paradigm that looked beyond skyscrapers and cars and realised the need for clean drinking water and air.
“Listen to the cry of earth, listen to the cry of this land,” the poet asked the participants of a seminar on sustainable development organised by the Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University here on Thursday.
Global warming, she said while inaugurating the seminar, was the earth being afflicted by fever. “It is our duty to control it,” she said. Later, she recited her poem Paschimaghattam .
