An action plan has been drawn up by the Samagra Shiksha, Kerala, to make the study of Hindi easier and interesting in schools.
The programmes conducted as part of Surili Hindi, which was started last year, will be continued this year. The approach adopted at a State-level workshop will be used to prepare the framework for the action plan by select trainers.
Three levels
Surili Hindi will be implemented at three levels this year. The first level envisages a one-day package in which students from Classes 5 to 8 will take part in a workshop.
The school-level workshop will comprise a 240-minute package that includes poetry, stories, plays, choreography, audio texts, and reading cards.
Phase two
In phase two, the activities will be linked to the portions the students have to study. Reading materials will be used to make Hindi learning easier.
The third level will include conduct of remedial classes.
It aims at overcoming any hurdles in Hindi and acquisition of the basics of the language to firm up reading and writing abilities.
Reading cards
Reading cards have already been distributed. After a tryout next month, the Surili Hindi package will be expanded to all schools to give children the confidence to communicate in the language with ease.
The Padhanotsavam this year will see the children present their newly acquired abilities in front of their parents and the public. A Hindi newspaper and interactions with guests will be part of part of Padhanotsavam.
