‘Revive grain quota’

October 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob has asked the Centre to reconsider the decision stop the monthly allocation of 33,000 tonnes of food grain to the State from October.

Mr. Jacob said in a release here on Thursday that he had submitted a memorandum to Union Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, but no decision had been taken so far.

Slashed quota

On denying the additional allotment, the government was forced to slash the grain quota to APL and BPL card holders. He protested against the Centre’s decision to stop the grain allotment to the State.
