Minister for Devaswom V.S. Sivakumar inaugurated the renovated Sreekanteswaram Temple pond on Thursday.

The renovation work was carried out at a cost of Rs.36 lakh. The work was taken up as the pond had fallen into disuse in recent years with the accumulation of waste materials and silt.

The compound wall and steps had also been partially destroyed. New compound walls and a bathhouse have been built. A hand-railing leading into the pond has been installed. Streetlights have been installed at a cost of Rs. 4 lakh. Mr. Sivakumar said Rs.28 lakh had been allocated to provide basic facilities at the temple.
