Rehabilitation package for bar hotel employees

The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a draft rehabilitation package for bar hotel employees who lost their jobs following the closure of bars in 2014-15.

Under the ‘Suraksha’ self-employment scheme, beneficiaries will be granted ₹2.5 lakh as term loan for five years and ₹50,000 as grant/ subsidy. The interest rate is 4%. The loan amount has to be repaid in monthly instalments over a five-year period. The Industrial Training Department will train the beneficiaries for developing the skill sets required for self-employment schemes. The government will bear the medical treatment costs of film director and Thoppil Bhasi’s son Ajayakumar who died of cancer. The expenses will be met from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.

The Cabinet decided to extend the tenure of V.C. Bindu, managing director, Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation. by another year from October 5, 2018. The Cabinet cleared a proposal to create 83 lecturer posts in government-run polytechnic colleges. One post of head of the department and 67 faculty (on contract) also will be created.
