Reading Week begins

The district-level celebrations of ‘Reading Week’ began at the Janatha Higher Secondary School in Thembamoodu. Poet Murugan Kattakada inaugurated the event. “Reading will provide light for future life. The knowledge and imagination of those who read a lot in their younger days will be wider than the others,” he said.He later recited his poems including ‘Nellikka’ and ‘Kannada,’ and read out the reading day pledge for the students. The events started off with the students garlanding a tree with ‘aksharamaala’. They later presented a ‘bhaashavandanam’ including poems. The Reading Week celebrations are being organised from June 19 to 25 as part of the death anniversary celebrations of Granthasala movement founder P.N. Panicker.
