The weather gods may be smiling on Kerala at least up to August 22, making the rescue operation in the flood- hit areas easier.

The district rainfall forecast for the next five days issued by the Met Centre here indicates that the rains are tapering off across the whole of the State from Sunday.

Isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall on Sunday also, signalling an end to the current spell of rainfall driven by a depression in the Bay of Bengal.

Weather conditions are shown to be improving from Sunday to Wednesday with all 14 districts likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.
