The Divisional Railway Managers of Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad have been transferred in a major reshuffle carried out by the Railway Board.

Sixteen Divisional Managers have been transferred in the reshuffle. Though Railways describe the transfer as routine once a manager completes two years of tenure in a division, the reshuffle has assumed significance as it comes before the general elections and the Railway Budget.

Rajesh Agrawal of Thiruvananthapuram division and Piyush Agarwal of Palakkad division have been transferred at a time when projects such as the suburban rail corridor, and the rail coach factory in Palakkad are in the pipeline.

In place of Mr. Agrawal comes Sunil Bajpai, Senior Professor, Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalapur.

In Palakkad, Anand Prakash, Executive Director, IRCON International Ltd., who had been looking after the Jammu railway project, has been posted.

By January first week

The Divisional Manager, Salem, Sujatha Jayaraj, has been transferred on completion of term.

Railway sources said the new managers had been asked to assume charge in the first week of January.
