Sixteen LPG cylinders and 115 consumer books were seized by Civil Supplies officials in a raid on an illegal LPG cylinder distribution agency at Peringamala on Friday.

According to S. Lalu, Taluk Supply Officer (Nedumangad), the agency, located near the Forest Guard station at Peringamala, was run by a woman identified as Aboosa Beevi. Civil Supplies officials had kept a watch on the agency following complaints that LPG cylinders were being sold at high prices, while those who had booked cylinders had to wait for over 50 days.

The consumer books were collected from different people and they were used to purchase and hoard the cylinders from Bharat Petroleum agencies, mostly in Palode. They were sold at over Rs.1,000 a cylinder.
