Provision for designated court too

June 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The State should, with the concurrence of the Chief Justice of the High Court, specify a court of session as the designated court for speedy trial in cases under SUSCA.

The designated court can also try an offence other than an offence under the Act, with which the accused may, under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, be charged at the same trial.

Under Section 3A (1) (b), whoever any aircraft or facility at an airport or disrupts any service, endangering or threatening to endanger safety at that airport, shall be punished with imprisonment for life and shall also be liable to fine.

Offences

In Karipur, CISF constable S.S. Yadav was killed in an accidental firing, airport staff assaulted, two fire tenders vandalised, the doors of many rooms of the technical block, the monitor of INDRA automation system and 22 lights on either side of the runway were damaged, and the CISF personnel forced the air traffic controllers to flee, leaving the ATC tower deserted for 20 minutes.
