Prosecute Sivadasan Nair, Jameela tells court

Jameela Prakasam, MLA, told a court here on Friday that a ruling front MLA had outraged her modesty on the floor of the Assembly during a pandemonium on the day of the presentation of the State budget this fiscal.

She pleaded that the court criminally prosecute Congress MLA from Aranmula K. Sivadasan Nair on the charge of manhandling her with sexual intent.

She sought the prosecution of another Congress MLA Dominic Presentation on the charge of making derogatory and casteist remarks about her husband, A. Neelalohitadasan Nadar, and verbally abusing her. Earlier, Ms. Prakasam had submitted in court what she claimed to be video recordings of the happenings in the House on that day to corroborate her allegations.

Her complaints to the State Police Chief and the Home Minister were in vain, Ms. Prakasam told the court.

She had also complained that the ruling front legislators had wrongfully detained her and prevented her from discharging her duties as a public servant.

She sought the prosecution of Mr. Nair under Sections 354 and 354 A of the Indian Penal Code. She deposed that Mr. Presentation’s behaviour towards her warranted prosecution under Section 294 B of the IPC.

In her criminal miscellaneous petition, Ms. Prakasam sought a court directive ordering the police to register cases against the ruling front MLAs.
