Promoting documentaries

December 13, 2012 09:05 pm | Updated June 15, 2016 07:24 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Today, it is not just enough to make a film but equal effort has also to be made for its promotion. Hence, the challenge faced by documentary film-makers is immense.

Providing the film-makers an opportunity to take their films to a wider audience, the second edition of Trigger Pitch paved the way for five of them to create a coalition around their films for a wider impact.

Aimed at creating funding strategies and promotional campaigns for the documentaries, Trigger Pitch saw the participation of major organisations in the film and media world and non-governmental organisations which would be collectively organising strategies to promote the films.

The second edition of Trigger Pitch, jointly organised by the Kerala Chalachitra Academy and the Indian Documentary Foundation, was held in connection with the International Film Festival of Kerala in the city on Thursday. The Jan Vrijman Fund supports Trigger Pitch, founded by Jaaved Jaffrey, actor. The five documentary films, which talks about various social and cultural issues, were presented by its directors in short preview and a discussion was held for identifying the potential areas of promoting the film. The themes focussed on women’s issues, corruption and environment.
