District Collector Biju Prabhakar, who is also the district returning officer, has said that only November 2, the day of local body polls in Thiruvananthapuram, will be a holiday for schools in the district. He added that only those schools where counting would be held would have holiday on the counting day, i.e. November 7.

During the commissioning of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) on October 30, classes may be conducted with the permission of the returning officer in those blocks where commissioning of the machines was not undertaken.

Following elections, classes may be conducted in rooms other than where the EVMs had been locked up, with the permission of the returning officer.
