Policeman killed in accident in Madurai

A senior civil police officer (SCPO) attached to the Ayiroor police station was killed and two persons were injured in a car accident near Madurai early on Wednesday.

The police said M. Isuddin, 40, from near Palode was killed, while another SCPO Jayaraj, and Sajesh, who was driving the car, were injured. Isuddin is survived by his wife Seena Begum, son Ajaz, and daughter Alzana.

The police said the team had left Ayiroor around 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday to trace a woman who was reported missing.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. near Madurai after the driver reportedly lost control of the car after being blinded by the bright lights of a vehicle from the opposite direction.

Isuddin’s funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
