Police to gain custody of accused in ATM theft case

The City police will gain custody of one of the accused in the recent ATM robbery case on Thursday.

Thirty-four-year old Suresh, from Chengannur, was arrested in New Delhi in connection with the thefts reported in Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram a month ago. He was apprehended by a team jointly led by the Circle Inspectors of Kayamkulam and Mararikulam. According to Cybercity (Kazhakuttam) Assistant Commissioner A. Pramod Kumar, the Thiruvananthapuram City police had submitted an application seeking custody of the accused at a court in Alappuzha around two weeks ago.

Five accused

The Alappuzha police had taken him under police custody for 10 days, when were able to obtain vital leads in the case, he said.

The police are yet to nab five other accused, all natives of Haryana, among which one is a former personnel of the Delhi police. .
