Pirated CDs seized in Statewide raid

The State anti-piracy cell on Wednesday conducted raids in several districts, arresting five persons and seizing several hundreds of pirated movie CDs.

Those arrested included Nahaz of Kallambalam in Thiruvananthapuram, who was arrested along with nearly 200 fake CDs from Welcome Mobile shop he was running at Kallambalam. Thomas, who ran Music Videos and Electronics shop at Valakam in Kollam district too was arrested, along with 200 pirated CDs.

Babu, who ran Orma Videos shop at Kadambanad was arrested with around 500 pirated CDs and a hard disk that was used to copy the movies. Biju George, who ran Janatha CD World near Enathu was arrested and over 1,000 pirated CDs seized from his shop.

The raids were led by Anti-Piracy Cell Superintendent Rajpal Meena; Dy.SP M. Iqbal; Circle Inspector D.K. Prithviraj and others. The raids would continue across the State, Mr. Meena said.
