District Collector Biju Prabhakar, who is also the district returning officer, has warned that stringent action will be taken against those found to be violating the norms on loudspeakers.

Political parties should ensure that decibel limit in industrial area is within 70 and 75 and in commercial area within 50 and 45.

The decibel limit of loudspeakers set up within a 100-metre radius of hospitals and educational institutions should be within 50 and 40. Permission will be given to use loudspeakers and mike sets from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

If found violating the rules, the microphone set will be confiscated and a case will be registered against the operator, Mr. Prabhakar said.

The public may register complaints at dialling 0471-2730045, 9497711282.
