Mayor V.K. Prasanth inaugurated the city Corporation’s online kiosk for marriage registrations on Thursday.

The newly weds V.S. Vinod Kumar and G. Sreeja and Nandu G.H. and Radhika Ramachandran, who got married on Thursday, received their marriage certificate from the Mayor at the function.

The kiosk has been set up in association with the marriage halls and places of worship within the city limits, and the Kudumbasree unit is looking after the Corporation’s hospital kiosk.

With this, a facility to register marriages and distribute certificates on the same day is now in place.

The institutions where marriages take place have to register with the Corporation to avail themselves of this facility. They should submit a special application form at the Corporation and the registered marriage halls will be linked with the kiosk.

Brides and grooms, while booking a marriage hall, should submit the application for marriage registration, required documents, and the fixed fees. A kiosk executive will collect these documents and transfer it to the online facility. On the wedding day, the bride and groom should sign on the marriage report printout made available by the kiosk executive. The newly weds can readily get the marriage certificate from the Corporation office after producing the certificate from the marriage hall and signing in the register. The certificate can also be downloaded from the Corporation website.

The function on the Corporation premises was presided over by Deputy Mayor Rakhi Ravikumar.

Those in charge of marriage halls and places of worships interested in securing this facility should contact the marriage registration department functioning at the Corporation main office, Mayor V.K. Prasant said.
