Online fraud: One held

The cyber police have arrested a West Bengal native for defrauding an Anchuthengu native who used to work in Singapore as a domestic help of ₹8.5 lakh.

The accused was identified as Amit Bhattacharjee.

He was also under NIA scrutiny. Amit would hoodwink people into believing they had won $1 lakh as online lottery prize and needed to pay ₹8.5 lakh into various bank accounts as processing charge and tax to receive the prize.

He is learnt to have hoodwinked many other people too.
