New banking ombudsman of State

Uma Sankar, General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, has assumed charge as Banking Ombudsman for Kerala, Union Territory of Lakshadweep, and the Mahe region of the Union Territory of Puducherry. Mrs. Sankar brings the stamp of experience having worked in various areas and departments in the RBI. She has served as a nominee of the RBI in the Working Group on Non-banking Financial Institutions constituted by the Kerala Planning Board. Prior to taking over as Ombudsman, she was in charge of the Department of Non-Banking Supervision.

The Banking Ombudsman is a quasi-judicial authority that addresses complaints of bank customers relating to certain services rendered by banks.
