NCC contingent leaves for R-Day parade


A total of 111 cadets who have been selected to participate in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi on January 26 left for the national capital on Friday.

The group headed by Contingent Commander R. Sreekrishna was given a send-off at the Central railway station by the NCC Directorate (Kerala and Lakshadweep) and the NCC group headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram.

The cadets from Kerala completed two months of intense training at the CRPF camp at Pallipuram here. At the Republic Day parade, they will march along with their counterparts from 16 other NCC directorates and compete in various events, including drill, firing, tent pitching, equestrian events and cultural programmes.

Officiating Additional Director General NCC Brigadier V.P. Gaekwad, Director Colonel P.T. Rajiv and other officers were present at the railway station to see off the cadets.
