The four-day inspection tour of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team aimed at giving a re-accreditation to the University of Kerala came to a close on Saturday with an exit meeting chaired by team chairman M. M. Salunke.
A press note issued here said the team had visited 21 teaching departments and 13 centres on the first day of their inspection. On the second day the team visited members of the ruling family of erstwhile Travancore at the Kowdiar palace. They also held discussions with teachers and the non-teaching staff. The NAAC team also dropped by the Technical Management Institute at Alappuzha and the Raja Ravi Varma centre for visual arts at Mavelikara. Team members also had discussions with students, former students, parents and principals of colleges. The peer team inspected the functioning of the offices of the Registrar, the Controller of Examinations and the Finance Officer. On Saturday, the NAAC peer team paid a visit to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at his official residence. The varsity was first graded ( B++) in 2003; this was valid only till 2008. Since then the varsity had functioned without NAAC’s accreditation.
