An attempt is being made now to reverse the gains during the period of reform movements in Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating a seminar against communalism and casteism, organised by the Hindu Parliament here on Wednesday.

‘Destroying unity’

“Our society had taken quite a different path during the period of reform movements to reach its current state. But now attempts are being made to destroy this unity and further divide people along caste and religious lines,” he said. He said those who were still following the caste system were not ready to accept SC and ST as humans, leading to the kind of crimes witnessed against such communities in north India.
