Mohanlal bats for Vizhinjam project

May 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:04 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Actor Mohanlal has pledged his support for the Vizhinjam international multipurpose seaport project and said that the dream project of the State should not get drowned in controversies.

In an open letter from Japan on the eve of the Cabinet meeting to decide on the project, the actor said ports had played an important role in the history of the State. All over the world, ports had triggered development.

On seeing the progress in Japan, Mohanlal said it was clear that Kerala had to stand united and go a long way. The State needed big ports, modern trains and railway network, world-class roads, waterways, and mass rapid transit systems.

Pledging his support for the project, the actor said debates were good for making corrections. But what was the need for debates that blocked everything.

“Vizhinjam is going to be a milestone in the development of the State, and let it become a reality,” he said.
