Mobile Lok Adalat starts journey

The mobile Lok Adalat, an initiative Kerala State Legal Services Authority, commenced its tour of the district on Monday.

According to District Legal Services Authority secretary and Sub Judge B. Prabhathu Kumar, the concept of mobile Lok Adalat was aimed at “bringing justice at the door steps”. Legal services will be extended to remote areas. The mobile van will visit all taluks during its 19-day tour.

The team will comprise of judicial officers, advocates and resource persons. Books on legal awareness will be distributed, Mr. Kumar said. The first leg will be taken across the Thiruvananthapuram taluk until July 24. The initial day witnessed awareness programmes being organised at Nirmala Bhavan HSS, Kowdiar, and GHSS, Vanchiyoor. The team will head for Andoorkonam grama panchayat on Tuesday. The others taluks to be covered included Chirayankeezhu (July 25 to 28), Nedumangad (July 29 to August 3) and Neyyattinkara (August 4 to 7).
